You name it—work lounges, standing desks, plush seating,
and more. We've rounded up everything your contract projects need to
achieve ultimate versatility. Among them, Parallel Design principal Ali Tayar
builds a bridge between the offices of yesterday and today with Icon
Work/Wall, a modular wall system that promises complete
customization—with a minimum of components. “In the ‘90’s, dot-com
companies challenged traditional design for the workplace,” says Tayar.
“Their office environments were the beginning of a revolution which is
ongoing. Icon was designed as a reaction to these new concepts.”
Laser-cut steel storage units, powder coated in standard or custom
colors, are stacked to serve multiple functions: as wall-based filing
cabinets, freestanding supports for plywood work surfaces, or partition
walls. Tayar recently had the opportunity to test his wares firsthand,
when he specified it for the new Manhattan offices of global
humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger.
Baltic plywood mingles with the system’s apple-green storage units
against natural-tone cork flooring, a perfect backdrop for the vibrant
colors of the furnishings
Seeking a streamlined and superflexible solution? Look no further than Multy by Tecno. Buratti Architetti’s clever partitioning system, a 21st-century update on the old-school carrel, features ball joints that allow fabric-covered aluminum-frame panels to fold into varying configurations. If sleek simplification is your game, Frank Rettenbacher took inspiration from architect Santiago Calatrava's skeletal structures in designing Santiago for Zanotta; the table's almost impossibly slender form is crated of solid wood stabilized by thin steel bracing wires plus concealed T-profiles. All products have also been featured in Interior Design’s recent Fall Market Tabloid.
