When Karl Lagerfeld, the reigning King of Fashion, fat shames you, there’s no better revenge than to step out in some gorgeous outfits. For Adele, who became the target of the Kaiser’s out-of-touch body opinions
a few years back, she proved that even people who are “a little
roundish” can drop mics both literally in regards to music and
figuratively in the sartorial sense. And looking great — and doing even
greater things — is like one large metaphorical f** you (to him, all her
exes, and anyone else that’s ever doubted her).
The
singer, with her album set to debut on November 20 after a three year
hiatus (she settled down, had a baby, and spent time gathering source
material) has been doing just that, with fashion-forward music videos
any designer would give up green juice forever to be a part of, public
appearances in sparkly gowns Kate Middleton might eventually wear, and
street-chic ensembles that style bloggers will emulate with step-by-step
shopping details. From multiple Jenny Packham gowns to statement coats
(including one inspired by Mr. Snuffleupagus), the hits don’t stop for
Adele at ballads.
